Prescription care, not a shortcut

What is semaglutide?

Semaglutide is a prescription GLP-1 receptor agonist. For appropriate patients, an FDA-approved semaglutide product may be prescribed alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity for chronic weight management. It can affect appetite and slow stomach emptying. A licensed medical provider must determine whether it is appropriate for you.

  • Medical history and medication review
  • Individualized candidacy assessment
  • Ongoing monitoring and plan adjustments

Medication is prescribed only when clinically appropriate. The exact product, pharmacy, cost, and treatment plan are discussed during consultation. Individual results vary.

A clinical pathway

Care that begins
with context.

01

Health evaluation

We review your goals, BMI, medical history, current medications, and relevant weight-related conditions.

02

Personalized plan

If treatment is appropriate, your provider explains the medication option, expected follow-up, lifestyle support, and alternatives.

03

Clinical follow-up

Your response, side effects, and overall health guide any change to the plan. Never change a prescribed dose on your own.

Important safety information

Candidacy requires a medical review.

Semaglutide is not right for everyone. Tell your provider about all health conditions, medicines, supplements, pregnancy plans, and previous reactions to GLP-1 medications.

  • Do not use during pregnancy. Stop and contact your prescriber if pregnancy occurs.
  • Do not use if you or a family member has had medullary thyroid carcinoma, or if you have Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2).
  • Discuss any history of pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, kidney problems, diabetic retinopathy, severe stomach-emptying problems, or planned surgery or deep sedation.
  • Common adverse effects can include nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, abdominal pain, headache, and fatigue. Serious reactions are possible.

Common questions

Before you begin.

Who may be a candidate for semaglutide weight management?

Eligibility depends on a full clinical assessment. Your provider will consider BMI, weight-related medical conditions, health history, current medications, previous weight-management efforts, and contraindications.

How quickly will I lose weight?

There is no guaranteed amount or timeline. Response varies, and treatment works best as part of a broader plan that includes nutrition, physical activity, sleep, and follow-up care.

Is every semaglutide product FDA approved?

No. FDA-approved products undergo review for safety, effectiveness, and quality; compounded products are not FDA approved. Your provider should clearly identify what is being prescribed and where it will be filled.

Can I use semaglutide with another GLP-1 medication?

Do not combine semaglutide with another semaglutide-containing product or GLP-1 receptor agonist unless a qualified prescriber specifically directs your care.
